365 Project. Day 78 / Proyecto. Día 78

Empecé a trabajar cuando tenía 15 años. Trabajaba saliendo de la escuela. Inicié como lavaplatos. Quería progresar, trataba siempre de aprender y hacer mejor mi trabajo. En una ocasión mi patrón me preguntó si quería cocinar. “¿Porqué no?, ¡puedo intentarlo!” le dije. Desde ese día fui el cocinero, luego pasé a ser chef, el bartender, y administrador. Hice de todo. Ahora tengo mi propio restaurante. La parte de mi trabajo que disfruto más es conocer a la gente que acude a mi restaurante,  me hace feliz cuando alguien me dice que le gusta mucho mi comida. Cuando pienso en mis hijos, más me esfuerzo en mi negocio. Ahora puedo proveer para mi familia y ofrecerles una mejor calidad de vida. Quiero que mis hijos vayan a la universidad. Yo no tuve esa oportunidad y quiero que ellos lo tengan. – Flavio Martínez

I started working when I was 15 years old. I would go to work after school. I started as a dishwasher. I wanted to grow. I was always trying to learn more, to get better. Once my boss asked me if I wanted to cook. I said, “Why not? Let’s try it!” Since then, I became a cook, then a chef, bartender, and manager. I did it all. Now I have my own restaurant. My favorite part of the business is meeting the people. It makes me happy when someone says they love my food. When I think of my kids, I put more effort into my business. Now I can provide my family a better quality of life. I want my children to go to college. I didn’t have that opportunity and I want them to have that opportunity. – Flavio Martínez
