While you are away, leave one or two interior lights on that can easily be seen from outside the residence. Install timers to alternate the duration and time the selected lights will turn on and off. This is an excellent way to make it appear that you are at home.

Burglars will frequently “case” a neighborhood prior to committing a crime. They observe schedules, routine activities and alertness of neighbors to strangers. Please take an opportunity to review the strengths and weaknesses of your neighborhood. Discuss with your team members topics such as routine activities, visibility, daytime vacancy, security cameras, dogs, vacant homes, etc. The more information you are able to share between the team, the easier it is to recognize suspicious activity within your neighborhood.
