Los Raiders de SOU le ganaron a los Patos de Oregón en su encuesta de un título nacional ganando su primer título NAIA en la historia del programa de futbol Americano. Los Raiders le ganaron a los Knights de la Universidad de Marion (Indiana) en el Estadio Municipal en la ciudad de Daytona, Florida. El resultado final fue 55-31. SOU fue liderado por su mariscal de campo Austin Dodge, el cual fue nombrado el Jugador del año en la NAIA y termina su carrera como el líder de la NAIA en touchdowns pasados (151), yardas pasadas (16,821), pases completados (1,232), pases atentados (1,916), yardas totales (17,150) y por touchdowns creados (158). Ryan y Matt Retzlaff (hermanos y nativos de Medford) fueron responsables por el éxito del juego anterior. Los dos combinaron por 224 yardas y un touchdown. El corredor Melvon Johnson contibuyo tres touchdown y 56 yardas por la tierra algo que balanceo la ofensiva de SOU. The SOU Raiders beat the Oregon Ducks in getting a national title, by winning the first NAIA football championship in the programs history. The Raiders beat the Marion University Knight (Indiana) at Municipal Stadium in Dayton, Florida. The final score was 55-31. SOU was lead by senior quarterback Austin Dodge, who was named the NAIA Player of the Year and is leaving as the NAIA record holder for touchdowns thrown (151), passing yards (16,821), completions (1,232), attempts (1,916), total yards gained (17,150) and total TDs responsible for (158). Medford natives, Ryan and Matt Retzlaff, played a huge part in the success of the passing game combining for 224 receiving yards and one touchdown. Running back Melvin Johnson contributed three touchdowns and 56 yards on the ground to balance out SOU’s offense. This year has marked a successful year for Oregon college football; Dodge and Mariota have won top honors in their respective divisions, could we also see the Ducks bring home the NCAA title?
